Anglian Learning Academy Websites

Challenge: Anglian Learning needed a single web platform capable of powering websites for a large and growing number of schools across the trust. Each school required its own distinct online presence — with unique branding, colours, and imagery — yet the trust also needed consistency in layout, navigation, and functionality so that parents, staff, and governors would find every site familiar and easy to use. Managing dozens of separate websites with independent themes and plugins would have been costly, difficult to maintain, and impossible to keep consistent.

Solution: We designed and built a bespoke multi-site WordPress theme engineered from the ground up for scalability. The theme provides a shared foundation of page templates, navigation patterns, and content modules that every school inherits automatically. On top of that foundation, each school site can be customised with its own colour palette, logo, hero imagery, and supplementary content — ensuring the site feels genuinely theirs rather than a cookie-cutter copy. When a new school joins the trust, a fully branded website can be spun up rapidly using the existing theme, dramatically reducing the time and cost of onboarding.

Results: The platform now powers websites for schools across the Anglian Learning trust, giving each one a professional, modern online presence that would typically require a standalone design project. Centralised updates mean security patches, new features, and design improvements roll out to every school simultaneously, keeping the entire network up to date with minimal effort. The trust has been able to bring new schools online quickly as the network has grown, and the consistent user experience has made it easier for parents and staff who interact with multiple schools in the trust.

This project demonstrated the value of thinking at scale — building one robust, flexible system rather than many fragile ones — and remains one of the most ambitious WordPress builds we have delivered.
